Hosted by members from the Closet Core team, Monsie and Judith are here to help launch your Crew adventure. They’ll walk you through some sewing fundamentals and help you navigate the Crew platform, from downloading to printing and cutting out your pattern. You’ll also get full video sewalongs for two of our most beginner-friendly Crew patterns, teaching you some basic skills for sewing with both woven fabrics (using the quick n' easy Quartz dress) and knits (the member fave Onyx pants). This workshop is designed to help build good sewing habits while adding some practical makes to your closet right away. From there, you can choose additional patterns from our archive, or work through the new patterns we release each month. There is always a project to suit you; move at your own pace, and before you know it you’ll be calling yourself a sewing expert.

I joined Crew right at the start and I have loved it. It’s a delicious treat each month to get another pattern - just the right amount of build up and anticipation. As a fairly inexperienced sewist, Crew has really helped me up my sewing game. So I'm not really a pattern of the month club kind of person. But then the Sepia Pants were released and I HAD TO HAVE THAT PATTERN. The Crew Community has been calling them #magicpants. It's so hard to find a decent pair of pants to fit my curvy body but these pants are going to be AWESOME. Sewing is generally a solitary hobby. Meet Your Crew Captain
When I started my blog back in 2011 to document my sewing journey, I never imagined I’d end up here: leading an incredible small team as founder of Closet Core Patterns, and trying to make the fabric industry more sustainable as co-founder at our sister brand, Core Fabrics.
Sewing is funny like that – you think you’re just stitching a few seams together, but in the background there’s all this wonderful stuff happening. For me, that wasn’t just the creative and financial freedom that came from escaping the siren calls of fast fashion – sewing changed my life in so many small and enormous ways. Teaching myself these timeless skills not only connected me with the countless generations of craftspeople behind me… it connected me with myself. I learned resiliency, self-sufficiency, love and appreciation for my body as it is, and deep, lasting confidence inside and out. Maybe most importantly, sewing provided a creative outlet that not only made me feel more inspired and grounded every day, but genuinely improved my mental health and overall happiness.
In the daily bustle and grind of modern life, it’s all too easy to push our passions and hobbies to the margins. We were inspired to start Crew because all of us – even those of us lucky enough to sew for a living – need a reminder that making time every month for creativity has real and lasting benefits. Crew is our chance to give sewing pride-of-place in our schedules and routines, in an inspiring, fun, and achievable way. What kind of patterns can I expect from Crew?
You can expect the same quality and attention to detail typical of all Closet Core patterns. Our patterns are accessible to sewists at every skill level, from simple and fast projects to more complex and rewarding makes (advanced patterns include sewalongs for our Unlimited members). We aim for a thoughtful balance throughout the year so there's always something that fits your current mood and available time.
In addition, each calendar year will center around a design theme or concept. The 2026 "Living" Collection celebrates what it means to live a good life through clothing - featuring heirloom-quality designs and carefully refined foundational pieces that honor and elevate the ordinary. As an Unlimited member, you'll also have access to the 2025 "Decades Collection" (a year-long journey through 20th-century fashion history) and the 2024 "Stone Collection" (a modern + interchangeable capsule wardrobe featuring a balanced mix of knits, wovens, separates and special standalone pieces).
How does the Crew membership work each month?
If you are signed up for a monthly plan, your membership will renew on the first day of each month. If you signed up for our annual Unlimited plan, your annual renewal will happen on the first day of the 13th month after your initial sign-up.
As an active member, we will send you an email on the first of each month telling you about the new pattern available for download and the content for that month. You will have access to a curated collection of resources to help you construct your pattern and access to our private Crew community forum. Unlimited members have access to the back catalog of patterns since January 2024, exclusive discounts to Closet Core Patterns and Core Fabrics, and access to a Fitting Concierge in a private forum.
Can I get a pattern from a previous month?
As of January 2026, all monthly releases become available as standalone patterns on the Closet Core website the month after their initial release. During their first month, they're exclusive to Crew members at a lower cost. For example, a pattern released in January only becomes available as standalone pattern on February 1.
Please note that all patterns released prior to January 2026 (including the complete Stone and Decades collections) are available only to Crew Unlimited members. To access these back catalog patterns, you'll need to upgrade to an annual Unlimited membership, which gives you immediate access to every Crew pattern released since January 2024, regardless of when you join.
Can I buy a pattern without signing up for a membership?
Yes. As of January 2026, all monthly patterns will become available as standalone purchases on the Closet Core site the month after their initial release. However, getting them during their launch month through a Crew membership is more cost-effective and includes additional benefits like curated inspiration and sewing resources, and private community access. Please note patterns from the Stone + Decades collections remain accessible exclusively to Unlimited members.
You're also welcome to sign up for just one month at a time - you can cancel your membership at any time with no commitment.
How do I access my patterns?
To access your available patterns, please make sure you are logged into your account here. From there you will be provided with links to access the monthly theme page and the Crew pattern library. Here you will be able to see all patterns available with your membership. If a pattern is available to download, click the Download button to “add to cart” and complete the checkout process. The pattern is free with your membership so there is no cost to completing checkout. You can then download the pattern after checkout is complete, or through the link included in your order confirmation email. It will also be saved in your store account for future access.
What is included in a Crew pattern?
Each PDF Crew pattern includes:
- A digital instruction booklet in English and French (French patterns are available as of January 2026 - Stone + Decades collection are available only in English)
- A PDF pattern that you can print on Letter (imperial) or A4 (metric) paper. Depending on the pattern, it may include hyperlinks to supplementary online content. You can print this or follow along on a phone or tablet to save paper.
- Copy Shop File Directions: This file provides instructions to your copyshop about how to print our files, in addition to giving you permission to print for individual use.
- PDF Pattern Printing Guide: This file provides detailed instructions on how to download, print, assemble and troubleshoot your PDF files.
- Copyshop/AO pattern: This is the file you will email to your copyshop to print on a large-scale plotter printer using 36” × 48” (imperial) or A0 (metric) paper.
- Letter/A4 pattern: Use this format to print on any home printer, whether you’re using imperial Letter or metric A4 paper.
- Projector File: Use this format together with a projector to project your pattern pieces onto the fabric for use as a cutting guide.
How do I print PDF patterns?
All digital downloads are accompanied by a “Guide to Printing PDF Pattern” ebook to help you print your pattern and troubleshoot issues. You can also read our PDF Pattern Printing Guide although it is not quite as comprehensive.
Do I have access to patterns after I cancel?
Yes, but you must download them first. Before canceling your membership, make sure to download all available patterns. Downloading them will save them to your Closet Core store account where you will have “forever” access to your files, regardless of your Crew membership status. If you cancel your membership before downloading patterns to your account, you will lose access to them. We cannot provide access to Crew patterns if you failed to download them while you were an active member.
As a best practice, we recommend you immediately download your pattern each month.
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
If you don't want to renew a subscription you can cancel it at anytime! To cancel or amend your subscription, simply visit your account page where you can make changes in your Membership Admin area.
- Monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time, and will not renew for the following month.
- Annual subscriptions (Crew Unlimited) are good for the entire year, regardless if you choose to cancel before your year is up. If you cancel an annual subscription, your plan will not renew for the following calendar year - please note that it will not end your current subscription. We do not offer partial refunds if you choose to cancel your annual membership halfway through your term.
Refunds
Since all products and content with a Crew subscription are available immediately when you sign up, both monthly and annual plans are non-refundable since they are billed in advance. We do not offer partial or full refunds on monthly or annual Crew subscriptions.
How do I get access to the Crew 101 workshop?
When you sign up for Crew, you will automatically be added to the workshop and our community, both hosted on the platform Mighty Networks. Once you create an account on Mighty Networks (separate from your Closet Core/Crew account) you'll be able to join the workshop and participate in our community!
What happened to the Crew patterns you designed in 2023 as part of the "Colour" collection?
We archived all the "Colour" Collection patterns from 2023, which means they are no longer included with our Unlimited plan. You may see some of these patterns crop up in new formats in the year to come.
