I'd sewn a bit in my childhood, but I had never properly tried to sew anything that I expected to be able to wear. Hence, I was worried I might have missed some essential techniques necessary for garment sewing. I also belong to the group of people who struggle to a greater extent with following through with things and structuring, basically anything, but in this case, the material I wanted to learn (thanks, ADHD...). I therefore thought it might be a good approach to let someone else help me with this, and I'm super happy I turned to this class by closet core!
Heather goes through the foundations of garment sewing in such a thorough, yet approachable way, and it was really comforting to have her go through the new techniques on the garments included in the class. It turned out I did actually know most of the material covered in the course, and I'm certain I could have picked up the rest from just sewing closet core's patterns (or patterns from other designers with similarly thorough instructions). However, the course really helped me with my confidence! It was so empowering to have finished with an entire outfit (especially having sewn a pair of trousers even though the fit still requires some additional work... 🫣)! I am so grateful for the amazing structure of the course 😍 I didn't feel overwhelmed at all, I just couldn't stop going through the lessons!
Thanks a million for this fantastic introduction and a new favourite hobby! 😍
