Pattern Hacks & Inspiration
From the Closet Core Patterns Community
I’m a beginner clothing maker, and found this pattern to be straightforward. I finished my pajamas a few months ago and have worn them almost every night since - love them and can’t wait to make another set!
The instructions helped me learn to see a nicer garment that I am proud to show off. I mastered the French seam and the piping inserts.
Excellent and detailed pattern. Instructions were very easy to follow. I have just made the shorts and wished that I had ordered more material to make the matching top. I love how the shorts and pajama pants have pockets. I will definitely be using this pattern many times!
So this my first ever time sewing from a pattern. Even for a first timer the instructions were so clear and thorough that I was able to make myself a beautiful pair of pajamas! I was so happy with the process that I did the Closet Core intro to sewing course afterwards, and am fully hooked on my new hobby. I can’t wait to make these again and again with new fabrics (and my more refined sewing skills). One can never have too many flattering, comfortable, well detailed, luxurious pajamas!
Pajama top needs darts at the bustline. Instruction guide was excellent! Detailed and easy to follow. I made the size 18 for my daughter. She normally wears a 16 but I chose the larger size just to leave room. The 18 was too small 🙁
As I dipped my two back into sewing garments - after about a 30 year hiatus - I decided to start with PJs and this pattern was the clear winner. All of the rave reviews didn't disappoint, and I found the pattern to be very well-drafted and with many details and opportunities to add flourish. The instructions are very well done and something I truly appreciated as my sewing skills were very rusty. Having said that, I think this is at least an advanced beginner to intermediate pattern. I probably should have attempted something easier as my first project, but I did have my past skills to draw upon.
The big surprise for me was the pants - I found them to be a lovely cut, so much so that I ended up spending time perfecting their fit (adjusted the crotch curve and rise) so that I can wear these as casual pants. Turns out my fabric selection wasn't the best for PJs, but will be perfect as regular-wear.
After my experience with this pattern, I promptly purchased the Kalle shirt and that was another success. Plus, now that I've made many more garments from various Indie pattern companies, I can say without hesitation that Closet Core drafts wonderful patterns with excellent instructions.
