FAQ

How do I print my PDF pattern?

All of our patterns come in a Letter/A4 format (for printing on a home printer) and 36"x48"/A0 format (for printing at a copyshop). Some patterns also come in a projector format. Please check the INFO+ tab under the description to see page counts and file formats available.

For more help printing and assembling our PDF patterns, please visit our PDF Printing Guide

How do I download my PDF Pattern?

First, we suggest creating an account in our shop so you can access all your files in one place at any time!

After you place an order, you will land on a page with a custom download link. You can download your pattern then, or use the link included in the order confirmation sent via email. If you don’t receive a download link via email, please check your junk mail as it may have been rerouted (and add us to your safe senders list so it doesn't happen again!)

Am I charged for taxes?

All Canadians are charged GST and possibly PST depending on where they live in Canada. We do not charge taxes in the US.

Customers based in the EU and UK will also be charged VAT on all goods. Regulations have changed in recent years requiring VAT to be collected based on where the customer resides (and not where the company is located) so we are legally required to collect and remit VAT even though our company is based in Canada. You can read more about the VAT regulations here.

What currency will I be charged in?

Use the dropdown at the top of our menu to choose USD, CAD, AUD, GBP, or EUR dollars to view prices and checkout in the currency of your choice.

For AUD, GBP, and EUR currencies, the price you'll see is linked to the daily exchange rate between USD and your currency, which means prices may fluctuate. For our Canadian customers, we have established set prices that will not vary with exchange rates.

Shipping + Returns

Shipping

American customers: Packages in the US are shipped via USPS First Class and Priority Mail twice a week. Please allow 8 to 12 days for your parcel to arrive.

Canadian customers: Your orders are sent via Canada Post letter or parcel post. Please allow 8 to 12 days for your parcel to arrive, and wait up to 3 weeks before contacting us.

International customers: Estimated delivery dates are listed below the shipping price when you checkout. We have two possible services. International First Class is for packages under 2 kilos and takes approx 10-40 days to arrive depending on your location. International Priority is a bit faster and should arrive at your destination in approx 8-20 days. Both services include tracking for *most* destinations.

Order tracking

Most shipping services we offer come with a tracking number. This will be sent to you via email you once the order has been processed in our warehouse.

Given the huge volume of mail and the challenges that the pandemic, holiday season, and environmental conditions impose on the performance of the mail service, we ask you to please be patient with the delivery of your packages, and get in touch after 3 weeks for Canadian and US shipments, and 6 weeks for international shipments.

If the above mentioned waiting times have elapsed, please message us about your delay. We’ll be happy to work with you to figure out a solution.

Exchanges + Returns

For physical goods: We grant refunds for physical items like print patterns and kits if they are returned to us in sellable and unopened condition within 30 days of purchase. Please contact us prior to shipping back your order to make sure you are eligible for a refund.

For digital goods: We cannot issue refunds on digital goods like PDF patterns and courses if they have been downloaded or watched. If you have not downloaded your file and would like a refund, please contact us.

Game changing magic!!

OK nothing prepared me for how much I would LOVE custom fitted jeans. Nothing. I had no idea just how uncomfortable my jeans were before I made the Ginger jeans. I am so in love with my new jeans and the way I was able to alter the pattern to fit my body perfectly. What a game changer in how I feel about wearing jeans, or any pants for that matter. Trust the process, inserting the fly seems odd but it ends up absolutely perfect every time. I can't say enough. I will be making more and I don't think I can ever go back to ill-fitting store-bought jeans ever again!

Success!!

I bought my first sewing machine at age 58 in December 2020 to make masks, just to give a background of my lack of experience before trying these jeans. I did dive into things head first though--after masks and bowl cozies, and made a collarless jacket and then a collared blazer. In Oct 2022 I decided to try jeans. After a little experimentation, I ended up doing midrise skinny, but opened up the seam allowances down the leg to 3/8" to keep them from being TOO skinny. I used a white stretch denim from Mood Fabrics. I was so sure they'd come out completely botched that I didn't even use a real jeans zipper--just a regular nylon one. Also bought the video tutorial and used that and the online free tutorial for most of my help.

They not only fit me really well in size 8, but came out so well that I wish now I'd used a jeans zipper. The fly wasn't bad at all, nor was the topstitching or belt loops. The only thing I had trouble with was installing the button. I was afraid I'd ruin my jeans, and that was the very last step. Hubby got involved and used a pliers, which slightly dented the button but got it mostly on (still not over that last hump). I don't know how other people are doing it, but that really was the only hard part of these jeans. They took awhile, but I'm a slow sewer. I did the entire thing on an old Kenmore from the late '60s, including a manual buttonhole using the tack stitch, and finished seams on my Juki MO-655 serger. Also, went thru the motions of doing the coin pocket, but didn't actually sew it in, as I wanted these to look a little less like jeans (did topstitching in the fabric color for the same reason). I'm thrilled to death, and have fabric to make many more. Next I'm going to try the stovepipe legs with a low seat adjustment.

The only thing I wish is that there were an option to NOT sew the pocket stay. I don't like all that fabric up front. I made my own regular pocket, and it came out fine, but it would be nice to have that option already with the pattern. Thinking about a hand press for the buttons though.

Everyone raves about this pattern, and Heather deserves all the praise she gets. This experience was really fun. BTW, even without the low seat adjustment, these jeans fit me better than anything RTW that I own.

Love it!

After a couple of toiles, I think I've got my fit pretty well - only very minor adjustments. A corduroy pair and a denim pair now grace my wardrobe. These are the most comfortable jeans I've ever owned and I can see a lot more in my future! And I love the way the instructions and the sewalong on the site complement each other.

Excellent new style

I have made numerous pairs of Ginger jeans. With a few changes, they fit me perfectly. Excellent instructions. Just when I wanted to try non-skinny jeans, there was a new stove pipe leg version. This version is cut out and waiting to be sewn.

Wonderful fit!

These jeans fit so nicely and the pattern is well laid out and easy to understand. These were not my first jeans, and I made some small changes to the pattern in order to make sure that they fit me, the biggest of which being the blending of sizes 28 and 30. These are my favorite make so far and I will definitely make more of these later!
