I have worked with knits for years. This almost kept me from ordering the class. How hard could a simple t-shirt pattern be? I’m glad I didn’t listen myself (I rarely do :)
Heather is a fantastic instructor! She presented so many ideas and facts I’d never considered. VERY glad I made the purchase. I’ve watched the ‘Knits’ part of the course. No matter how much you think you know, you’re gonna learn even more!
True to Closet Core style, Heather is engaging and accessible in her teaching style. We learn from her presentation of facts and through her humorous insights. In this class, she presented her experiments stitching different fabric compositions with different stitch length and needle types. We learned how to correct fabric distortions in the knits so we could accurately create a garment. This seems like a ‘duh’ moment, but I’d never considered this before.
It’s information like this that is helping me elevate my sewing of garments, and I love it!
I made my first Amelie in a few hours, and It is not only a quick sew, the fit is perfect. I love it, and I am making more.
I sewed the 18 and next time would need to size down at least 2 sizes. I like the way the pattern works but it will be a while before I try it again and to make this one work I will need to take it apart and recut it. As per usual I should have seen a toile but I was hopeful.
Hi Catherine, thanks for sharing your experience. We’re glad you like how the pattern works, and sorry the fit was much larger than expected. Did you choose your size using your body measurements or your usual ready-to-wear size? Our size chart explains how to measure, and our sizing app can help you find the best fit for your next project: https://closetcorepatterns.com/pages/size-chart. We hope you’ll give the pattern another try when you’re ready!
Products are as ordered. Timeline for local pick up was longer than expected, but it was after a sale event.
Classes are clear, logically structured and cover everything you need to know to sew great knit garments. I've sewn knits before, but found plenty of new information, tips and techniques I can use in the future. Closet Core patterns always have excellent written instructions. But it's so valuable to also be able to watch someone work through the trickier steps. Recommend highly.
