Sienna Maker Jacket Pattern
Sienna is a chic utility jacket inspired by vintage French workwear. Designed for hard-wearing use by makers and artists, it functions as both stylish outerwear and a highly practical layer for use inside the studio.
With a slightly dropped shoulder, Sienna features a crisp notched collar which can be worn buttoned at the neck with an optional snap button. It is unlined and finished with durable seams. Views A & B feature deep hip pockets, a hidden breast pocket and a waist-cinching belt with a D ring closure that can be worn closed, or open by looping the belt in the opposite direction; View A hits at mid-thigh and View B ends at the upper thigh. View C is a short chore jacket with button closure, optional sleeve pockets and a back button placket.

How do I download my PDF Pattern?
First, we suggest creating an account in our shop so you can access all your files in one place at any time!
After you place an order, you will land on a page with a custom download link. You can download your pattern then, or use the link included in the order confirmation sent via email. If you don’t receive a download link via email, please check your junk mail as it may have been rerouted (and add us to your safe senders list so it doesn't happen again!)
Am I charged for taxes?
All Canadians are charged GST and possibly PST depending on where they live in Canada. We do not charge taxes in the US.
Customers based in the EU and UK will also be charged VAT on all goods. Regulations have changed in recent years requiring VAT to be collected based on where the customer resides (and not where the company is located) so we are legally required to collect and remit VAT even though our company is based in Canada. You can read more about the VAT regulations here.
What currency will I be charged in?
Use the dropdown at the top of our menu to choose USD, CAD, AUD, GBP, or EUR dollars to view prices and checkout in the currency of your choice.
For AUD, GBP, and EUR currencies, the price you'll see is linked to the daily exchange rate between USD and your currency, which means prices may fluctuate. For our Canadian customers, we have established set prices that will not vary with exchange rates.
Shipping + Returns
American customers: Packages in the US are shipped via USPS First Class and Priority Mail twice a week. Please allow 8 to 12 days for your parcel to arrive.
Canadian customers: Your orders are sent via Canada Post letter or parcel post. Please allow 8 to 12 days for your parcel to arrive, and wait up to 3 weeks before contacting us.
International customers: Estimated delivery dates are listed below the shipping price when you checkout. We have two possible services. International First Class is for packages under 2 kilos and takes approx 10-40 days to arrive depending on your location. International Priority is a bit faster and should arrive at your destination in approx 8-20 days. Both services include tracking for *most* destinations.
Most shipping services we offer come with a tracking number. This will be sent to you via email you once the order has been processed in our warehouse.
Given the huge volume of mail and the challenges that the pandemic, holiday season, and environmental conditions impose on the performance of the mail service, we ask you to please be patient with the delivery of your packages, and get in touch after 3 weeks for Canadian and US shipments, and 6 weeks for international shipments.
If the above mentioned waiting times have elapsed, please message us about your delay. We’ll be happy to work with you to figure out a solution.

I had already made the short version, and I knew the Sienna was the pattern to use to make the streamlined trench I envisioned for a spring trip to Europe. I love Closet Core patterns for the range of sizing available that allows me to reach a perfect fit.
I needed this coat to be a little dressy but warm and practical. I opted for a ribbed wool coating with a tattersall check wool suiting as an underlining. I inserted some side seam bag pockets instead of the patch pockets. I used a horn slider buckle in lieu of the D-rings. I love it!
For more a lot more detail on the making of this Sienna see the post titled "A Streamlined Trench for a Springbreak Trip" at my maker blog www.makelings.com.
I made the Short Worker’s Jacket using a canvas fabric and I love it. Fit was true to size. I included the sleeve pocket, and I also added a lining to the sleeves. Thanks to other techniques I’ve learned from Closet Core patterns, I finished the raw edges of the jacket using a Hong Kong finish. Can’t wait to try the longer versions of this pattern!
It is rare that a pattern fits me on the first draft especially the sleeves. The Sienna jacket I only had to add a bit to the hips in the long view.
Looking forward to making this up in a heavy linen!
i wish there was a projector file!
i haven’t finished yet—- all done except finishing the lapel, buttons, belt. as newer sewist it’s the most challenging thing i’ve done yet- but i feel it’s been more mental - like if i get myself to do it i can do it! can’t attest to the fit yet but it’s been a confidence bump at times and an exciting stretch at other times
I've been wanting to make this for a while, especially after seeing how stellar its reviews are. I wasn't disappointed. I made the short version in a 10 oz denim twill, which worked beautifully. This is my 2nd Closet Core make, and once again I'm impressed with how well drafted the pattern is, how clear the instructions are, and that there's no skimping on finishing detail. I like the oversized fit, because I can wear it over bulky sweaters. I skipped the sleeve pocket, but otherwise made the jacket as designed. For reference, I'm 5'3". I made a size 6, shortening the sleeves by 1 1/2 inches, and the body by 1 inch.
Great pattern- no major alterations were needed. Love all the pocket details and love that sewing only takes a couple hours.
