Nothing says summer elegance quite as well as a dramatic caftan. Charlie is a fresh take on this warm weather staple.

All versions feature a deep V neckline, short dolman sleeves, inset center panel and roomy pockets. View A is modern and architectural with striking pleats beneath the bust. For a softer, more romantic dress, Views B & C feature a gently gathered bodice with an optional waist tie for a figure-skimming silhouette in two skirt lengths. You may also choose between a dramatically wide sleeve or one slightly higher cut for more coverage.

Charlie

Like others I struggled with the bodice panel. Will watch the YouTube video and do another one. Looks pretty cute in spite of the mistake on that part of the caftan.

Charlie Kaftan

This is a beautiful pattern, so user friendly, I admit there were techniques I had not done before, but the pattern instructions walk you through it so well, I am so so pleased with my kaftan, it is so well put together and looks amazing!

Pattern with a twist, not so good instructions

The pattern is different and particular but I found instructions not so clear and missing images. Without videos I wouldn't have been able to accomplish the dress.
My suggestion is to use definetely a fabric with a rich pattern otherwise the final result might be disappointing

Perfection!

This is a beautiful summer dress. I found the sizing and instructions very accurate. I raised my neckline by an inch according to the blog post and shortened the ties. This was meant to be my toile made in a cotton/linen blend, but it’s so cool and comfy it’s been seeing a lot of wear in the heat.

the excellence of patterns and tutorials!!!

their tutorials explained in detail, step by step, and drawn in precise well-designed patterns allow any beginner like me to complete a job as if she were the most experienced seamstress.
What makes them stand out is not only an explanation or the pleasantness of a garment, but also the fact that each part of the pattern corresponds to another, and the garment, once sewn, falls so well that it does not blemish or clash. You feel more beautiful and thinner with their garments!!!
And I can say this for numerous closet core garments, which I cannot give up!!! is one of the few companies I know I can turn to in complete confidence.
Their generosity surpasses anything: even the garment given as a gift, like the t-shirt, is so detailed that they made me a luxury jersey!!!

Caftan

Made this from medium weight muslin. The YouTube video helped for the tricky part. Not all that hard. Then I eco printed with blitzed onion skins and plume poppy leaves after mordanting to accept natural dyes. I think the pockets could be a little bit bigger. Next time.
