I’m an AUS10 tall pear (height = 183cm) and this makes rtw trousers difficult to fit. But his pattern just worked straight off the blocks.
First muslin perfect, second one a little different.
I used my hip measurement and made a size 42 muslin of the Genet. It fits with no modifications except I reduced the leg length (I know, go figure) and just hemmed them like normal rather than use the facing technique of the pattern. The wide legs are marvellous and I am on the hunt for delicious olive-brown wool fabric to make a winter pair.
My second muslin is a longer version of the shorts. I was hoping this would be wearable so this time I did include the fly-facing but must have sewed it on a bit wrong as this has made my waistband not long enough - there’s now two extra little pleats at the front. I extended the length of the shorts to the mid-leg pattern notch and I'm pretty happy with that length.
I will need several more practices before I can make a neat welt pocket though.
I've been sewing for 25 years, but never lingerie. This class has all the resources I've come to expect from Closet Core class offerings.
I thought Closet Core were overselling me when they discussed making one's own intimate wear as a form of self care, but I am telling you that when I put on my bralette to wear around the house for the first time, I cried with relief- actual tears.
There is a greater-than-ten-inch bounce from my waist to full chest- surely they can't teach me anything in this class that's going to make that bralette pattern fit me, right? Wrong! They did it. The fitting notes helped a lot, and when I asked for help, I got responses very quickly.
For the enbies: you might be thinking, surely a course on sewing underwear is going to trigger my gender dysphoria big time, right? No! Make something that makes YOU feel good, that reflects YOUR style. How often do you get that from the world? I went from wearing old, worn-out, painful bras because I couldn't stand the thought of acknowledging them as a garment I needed to making something that is comfortable, special, and just for me. I hope everyone gets to experience that.
Other Closet Core class offerings have been great, but this one actually changed my life. If you're wondering if you can do it, and if this class is worth it: you can, and it is.
I like both the longer and shorter version of this jacket pattern. Looking forward to completing the project - I’m starting with the shorter jacket.
The Fit is Great. The Instructions are Even better. I made the straight leg mid rise Jeans. It will Not be my last pair of Frank Jeans.
I LOVE this pattern. I made the high waist, barrel leg and have got tons of compliments. I love that the pattern comes with so many options. I also took the class on jean making which was extremely helpful. This was one of my favorite projects.
