I made a dress with pattern McCalls M8446, and here's what I found: the fabric itself is very soft like cotton but has a bit of "silkiness" like silk. That also means that it does tend to slip and slide, so if you're making apparel, you will need a lot of pins. I also found it a bit hard to "gather" because it was lightweight.
The color can be hard to tell online, but it is more of an orangey-red than a pure red.
It is opaque, and I did not need a lining. You will need lightweight needles and to set your tension accordingly.
Overall, great fabric, and I would purchase it again.
Je l’ai offert à ma belle-fille qui a un goût pour la couture à la main. Je lui ai imprimé le document d’accompagnement 🌸
Beautiful fanric, easy to sew. Very slight blotching after washing, but was not visible on the finished garnment. Will buy again to make pants and shorts!
I've used Core Fabrics Textured Viscose Linen several times, and this won't be the last! Wonderful weighty drape. Great for pieces that benefit with movement (like flutter sleeves) It's a comfortable and pleasurable fabric to wear. Great for pants, skirts, dresses and tops.
I can’t wait to sew a new dress with the fabric I just received. What a beautiful texture and colour combination.
I love this linen, I ordered 3 different colors of it this year. It washes up beautifully and holds its color. Linen fabric is the best for warm summer weather and I am looking forward to making garments that will help me stay cool this summer and fall!
