So far have made the top and skirt. Dress is next. Simply yet effective pattern. Easy to make.
Making your own jeans... it can't get any crazier.
But making the prototype was really fun! The instructions are clear,
the only thing I find annoying is that the page is divided into columns; if you have poor eyesight like me and zoom in on the page, you sometimes almost 'forget' a step... but those are minor details.
For now, I'm going back to summer projects, but those jeans are going to be made, and I will wear them with pride.
I've been a Closet Core fan for years, and I have absolutely LOVED the different themes and vibes of the last few years. I faithfully download the pattern on the first of the month and even print them out. But this is the first time in months I've made the pattern THE SAME MONTH it came out. And I have fabric for 3 more pairs. The instructions are awesome, the fit is chef's kiss and I love wearing my Therese Track pants. Now I need to go back and finish my Frank Jeans and several patterns from last year. . .
I made a dress with pattern McCalls M8446, and here's what I found: the fabric itself is very soft like cotton but has a bit of "silkiness" like silk. That also means that it does tend to slip and slide, so if you're making apparel, you will need a lot of pins. I also found it a bit hard to "gather" because it was lightweight.
The color can be hard to tell online, but it is more of an orangey-red than a pure red.
It is opaque, and I did not need a lining. You will need lightweight needles and to set your tension accordingly.
Overall, great fabric, and I would purchase it again.
I made a Marine top using the Breton knit. I love it. It has a great facing around the neck. I'm sure i will be making more.
Adding a new pattern every month is exciting!
I enjoy reading emails and looking through pattern choices.
Subscribing also makes the Blog interesting bcz some sewists are very astute at creating monthly patterns into clothing.
