Real Reviews from Our Customers

I started using (Closet) Core patterns years ago, and joined CREW a few years ago without looking back or ever questioning my decision. The patterns alone are worth the cost of membership. I'm an intermediate sewist and always learn new techniques or 'cleaner' techniques when using these patterns... The directions are very clearly written, and again, I love the thought behind the details in patterns."

I'm a fairly new sewer and have only ever used the Big 4 sewing patterns and I was BLOWN away by how good the instructions were on this pattern... the step-by-step process was so helpful, and at no point did I feel lost.

I have been sewing clothes for myself since I was a young teenager and I'm now 68, so I have used many different types and brands of patterns and I can say the Mitchell trouser pattern is the very best pattern I have ever used... I will definitely be choosing Closet Core patterns in the future and recommending them to my sewist friends."

This is my 2nd Closet Core make, and once again I'm impressed with how well drafted the pattern is, how clear the instructions are, and that there's no skimping on finishing detail.

The instructions are very good and the whole pattern is very complete, well-made and thorough. I definitely recommend this for people who want to make their own jeans, be it their first or a subsequent pair.

This is my first Closet Core pattern and I am very pleased with the instructions, construction method, and final product! ... I can't wait to sew up a pair of pants (or several) now that I'm deeply in love with this pattern.

The pattern was straight forward to sew, the instructions were clear... As usual, a very good quality sewing pattern 😀

FAQ

Why do I see some of the patterns listed twice, once from Closet Core or Deer & Doe and once from Crew?

Crew is our monthly membership. The Crew version is bundled into membership along with our full back catalogue; the standalone listing is the same pattern available à la carte at a higher one-off price. If you're buying more than one or two, membership is usually the better deal.

What's the best sewing pattern for beginners?

Start with something forgiving on fit and finish - a simple top, an elastic-waist pant, or a loose dress. Our Easy + Beginner Friendly collection is built around exactly that.

How do I choose the right sewing pattern for my body?

Check the finished garment measurements, not just the size label - every brand sizes differently. All our patterns include full size charts so you're choosing based on your actual measurements. You can also view the Closet Core size charts and Deer&Doe size charts.

What's the difference between a PDF and a printed sewing pattern?

A PDF is a digital file you print and assemble at home for instant access, or send to the copyshop. A printed pattern arrives ready to trace or cut, no assembly required. We offer print patterns for select designs; use or filter system to view what we have in stock as a print pattern if that's your preference.

Do you offer plus size sewing patterns?

Yes. Our Plus Size collection covers dresses, tops, pants, and outerwear drafted for an extended size range. We also offer alpha sized patterns up to 6X for simpler designs.
